Build and sustain purposeful partnerships
Partnering with SickKids Foundation to support New Investigator Research Grants in Child and Youth Health

Objective: Provide critical early-career development support to child health researchers through purposeful partnerships.

Outcome: In partnership with the SickKids Foundation, over $38 million has been invested since 2003 to support more than 180 researchers across biomedical, clinical, health systems and services, and population and public health sectors. This long-standing collaboration underscores a shared commitment to strengthening research capacity and advancing knowledge.

Mobilize knowledge and communicate effectively
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the IHDCYH Talks knowledge mobilization competition

Objective: Champion the value of science and highlight the power of knowledge mobilization efforts in making research more engaging, accessible, and impactful.

Outcome: With almost 70 submissions and thousands of votes pouring in during the public voting period, the competition inspired incredible engagement. The addition of new formats – infographics and podcasts – alongside video submissions sparked creativity and broader participation.

Engage with our research community to support key infrastructure
Workshop: Maintaining Momentum and Strategies for Sustainability of Human Development, Child and Youth Health Research Groups in Canada

Objective: Build capacity for research groups to embed sustainability and legacy planning in their programs.

Outcome: A workshop in Vancouver brought together over 100 leaders from the human development, child and youth research community across the country. Participants learned from experts and each other about strategies for sustaining research and gained practical tools for navigating change. 96% of participants left feeling better equipped with actionable insights and tools to apply to their own planning. This workshop was made possible through our partnership with the Maternal Infant Child and Youth Research Network (MICYRN) and the Perinatal & Child Health Research Annual Meeting.
